The coaching staff for new Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer is beginning to come together.
According to a release from the franchise, the Cowboys have named Nick Sorensen as the team's new special teams coordinator.
He now becomes the second coordinator to be named to Schottenheimer's staff, following the hiring of Matt Eberflus as defensive coordinator.
Sorensen, who played as defensive back and on special teams in the NFL from 2001-2010, got into the coaching field in 2013 with the Seattle Seahawks as a special teams assistant under Pete Carroll.
In 2016 he was moved to defensive backs coach, eventually being promoted to secondary coach in 2017. In 2021 he moved to Jacksonville where he was named special teams coordinator.
In 2022 he was hired as a defensive assistant by the 49ers, before being promoted in each of the next two seasons, first to defensive pass game specialist and nickels coach in 2023, and then as defensive coordinator in 2024.
He was fired by the 49ers earlier this month, and replaced by Robert Saleh.
