Cowboys home woes continue in blowout loss to Detroit Lions
ARLINGTON - The Dallas Cowboys home woes continued on Sunday, after being thoroughly dominated by the Detroit Lions 47-9 at AT&T Stadium, dropping them to 3-3 on the year.
Things got off to a rough start from the beginning for Dallas, being forced to settle for a field goal after a promising offensive drive stalled.
The Lions took advantage almost immediately, scoring a touchdown on the ensuing drive, and taking the 7-3 lead.
Just two Detroit possessions later, that lead ballooned out to 14, with the Lions knocking through a field goal toward the end of the first quarter, and then scoring touchdown early in the second.
And from that point forward, the game was ostensibly over, with the Lions going on to hang up 40 more points on the Dallas defense, while the Cowboys struggled to gain any rhythm offensively.
In fact, for the game, the Cowboys offense amassed just 251 yards of total offense on 65 plays, including just 53 yards rushing.
Quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb also continued to have issues with their on field chemistry, connecting on just seven of 14 targets.
On the other side of the ball, the Lions got just about anything they wanted through both the run game and the pass game, totaling 492 yards of offense.
Lions star QB Jared Goff led the way for Detroit completing 18 of 25 passes for 315 yards and three touchdowns.
With the loss, the Cowboys have now dropped their last four games at home dating back to their 48-32 loss to the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card of last year's playoffs.
Since then, the Cowboys have lost in front of their home by an average score of 20.75 points in those four games.
Up next for the Cowboys is a much-needed bye week, before they head into a tough stretch of games that includes matchups at the 49ers, at the Falcons, vs. the Eagles, vs. the Texans and at the Commanders.
