DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys will need a new kicker this week, as they have placed Greg Zuerlein on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
According to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, the team will hold a tryout Wednesday "that likely will determine" who will kick in Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons.
It's unknown whether or not Zuerlein is vaccinated.

Bryan Broaddus of 105.3 The Fan reported Tuesday that Dallas could elect to bring back Lirim Hajrullahu to fill in until Zuerlein returns (Watch the video above). Gehlken confirmed later Tuesday that Hajrullahu will be involved in Wednesday's workout, as will former Cowboys kicker Brett Maher.
Maher has bounced around the NFL since being cut by the Cowboys in the middle of the 2019 season after connecting on just 20 of his 30 field goal attempts. He was most recently with the New Orleans Saints and had a good chance to open the 2021 season as their starting kicker until Wil Lutz returned (abdomen), but he suffered a groin injury and was cut.

Hajrullahu spent part of training camp with the Cowboys and kicked in their preseason game against the Texans before being cut on Aug. 25 to make room on the roster for Zuerlein (back), who was activated prior to the season opener against Tampa Bay.
Hajrullahu, 31, spent six seasons in the Canadian Football League and was a two-time All-Star. He has bounced around the NFL and previously spent time in Los Angeles with Bones Fassel, the former Rams special-teams coordinator who now has the same role in Dallas.
Zuerlein is 14-18 on field goal attempts and 21-23 on extra point attempts this season.
