Dallas Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith was already banged up heading into Sunday's matchup with the New England Patriots.

However, in the third quarter, things almost tougher for Smith, when he was forced to leave the game with a lower-body injury.

The injury occurred midway through the third quarter with Dallas trailing 14-10.

Smith was able to walk to the sidelines under his own power, where he would undergo evaluation for what appeared to be his ankle.

Not long after undergoing those evaluations, and getting his ankle taped, Smith walked to the locker room under his own power for further tests by the medical staff.

Smith was replaced in the lineup by Ty Nsekhe.

Midway through the fourth quarter, however, Smith was able to return to the lineup, helping to pave the way for a big run for running back Ezekiel Elliott.
