Cowboys LT Tyron Smith likely to play Sunday, per Jerry Jones

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Dallas Cowboys fans got some good news from owner and general Jerry Jones during his visit with 105.3 the Fan's Shan and RJ on Tuesday morning.

According to Jones, left tackle Tyron Smith, who has yet to see the field this season due to injury, is likely to return this coming Sunday vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“As I see it right now, he’ll be playing Sunday,” Jones said.

Smith's return could not come at a better time for the Cowboys, who lost right tackle Terence Steele to a torn ACL in the team's 27-23 win over the Houston Texans over the weekend.

It is unclear exactly what the Cowboys offensive line will look like on Sunday upon Smith's return, but logic dictates that he will resume his duties as the starting left tackle.

Meanwhile, veteran Jason Peters could take over as the full time right tackle in relief of the injured Steele.

Rookie Tyler Smith, who had been the team's starter at left tackle in Tyron's absence, has been getting extended work at left guard in recent days.

In other injury news for the Cowboys, Jones also said that defensive tackle Jonathan Hankins, who was also hurt in the win over Houston, will not return to the field until the playoffs.

"You can see Johnathan back for the playoffs," Jones said. "He won't be back before then."
