DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys and head coach Mike McCarthy have been fined by the NFL for violating the rules of the NFL's collective bargaining agreement that regulate the team's offseason workouts.
According to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, the team was punished for their OTA practices being too physical.
McCarthy will pay a $100,000 fine, while the Cowboys will lose an OTA day as a result of the violation.
The Cowboys violated the same rules last off season, with the Cowboys being fined $100,000 and McCarthy being fined $50,000. The Cowboys also lost an OTA day.
“I think there were seven to nine plays that we looked at as a group, and frankly, the majority of them involved younger players, so to me it’s a learning experience,” McCarthy said last offseason. “I think like anything in life, if you’re punished for trying to do too much the right way as opposed to not doing enough the right way, I think that’s a healthy experience to learn from.”
The Cowboys were not the only team that was punished for such violations, with the Texans and the Commanders also facing discipline from the league.
