DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Cowboys no longer have to wonder who they will face off against in the first round of the NFL playoffs, after losses from the Cardinals and Rams on Sunday set the Cowboys up with the #3 seed, and a Wild Card match-up with the #6 seed San Francisco 49ers at AT&T Stadium.
While there were questions about how much the Cowboys truly had to play for on Saturday night, their 25-point victory over Philadelphia helped move them up a spot, and guaranteed they won’t have to play at Lambeau Field until a potential NFC Championship game match-up with the Packers. Had they been the #4 seed, Dallas would have faced the Packers as early as the divisional round.
This will be the 8th time the Cowboys and 49ers will face each other in the playoffs, but the first since the 1994 NFC Championship game. Dallas fell down 21-0 within the first five minutes of that game and eventually lost 38-28 at Candlestick Park.
The Cowboys have won their last three games against the 49ers, including 41-33 victory over San Francisco last season at AT&T Stadium.
The Cowboys and 49ers are scheduled to kick off next Sunday at 3:30 pm central time from AT&T Stadium.
