FRISCO (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys' 53-man roster juggling continues, to the point that even head coach Mike McCarthy on Thursday mentioned the unprecedented craziness of it all.

The shuffle features ...

*The return of a handful of veterans from the COVID list, led by CeeDee Lamb. He's joined by Damontae Kazee and Carlos Watkins in returning.

*Defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is also out of protocol and back here inside The Star.

*Not yet ready to return are Noah Brown and Connor Williams, though they should be back in the coming days.

*Coinciding with the COVID moves is the move of six players headed to injured reserve with the designation to return during the season.
They are Josh Ball, Francis Bernard, Neville Gallimore, Kelvin Joseph, Sean McKeon and Malik Turner.

*The math means there are presently enough open roster spots to have signed running back Corey Clement to the active roster.

*New QB Will Grier, claimed off waivers from Carolina, is also signed and on the active roster.

*It also means long-snapper Jake McQuaide is being brought back to the active roster. That will also happen with punter Bryan Anger in the coming days.

*The Cowboys enter Thursday's practice here inside The Star - which is of course all about the NFL regular-season opener on Thursday, Sept. 9 at Tampa Bay - with two lingering injury issues to starters: Right tackle La'el Collins (stinger) and safety Donovan Wilson. McCarthy conceded, "I don't know,'' when asked about the availability of Collins for the Tampa game.
