DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys officially placed star quarterback Dak Prescott on the injured reserve list on Monday afternoon, following the gruesome ankle injury he suffered last Sunday against the New York Giants.
Prescott was transported to a local area hospital shortly after the injury, where underwent successful surgery to repair the damage. Prescott is now expected to miss 4-6 months while rehabbing the injury, and was cleared of any post operative infections following a visit to his doctor on Sunday.
In some good news for Dallas, however, linebacker Leighton Vander Esch, who has missed the last four games with a fractured collar bone he suffered in the first quarter of the team's season opening loss to the Los Angeles Rams, was activated from the injured reserve list on Monday, bringing some much-needed help to a linebacker group that has struggled so far this season.
Vander Esch is expected to suit up and play on Monday night, but will likely not see a full load of work, with the Cowboys planning to use caution, and ease him into the action over the next two games.
The Cowboys and Cardinals kick off on Monday Night Football at 7:15 pm, and will be broadcast live on 105.3 the Fan.
