DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys will be without running back Ezekiel Elliott as they begin preparations for their Week 8 matchup against the Chicago Bears.

Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said Elliott has a sprained knee and will be limited to rehab work on the sidelines at Wednesday's practice after he took a big hit in the first half of the team's win over the Lions Sunday.
Despite being shaken up initially, Elliott was able to return in the second half and scored two 1-yard touchdowns.
Elliott was the player guest on "The Cowboys Hour" on Monday and said he was working through the ailment.
“It’s sore. It’s definitely sore. But it’s Monday," Elliott said on 105.3 The Fan.
The Cowboys could elect to play it safe with Elliott as they have a bye week after the Bears game, but McCarthy said the break in the schedule wouldn't factor into their decision.
Tony Pollard would see a lot more action should Elliott miss some time, and McCarthy believes he's up for the challenge.
"We're so fortunate to have Tony and Zeke here. I think they're both capable of carrying a full load," McCarthy said. "I think Tony Pollard is a very good between-the-tackles runner because he's in the creases that open. I think that's a huge characteristic that I've always looked for when evaluating a running back."
