Cowboys re-sign DL Carlos Watkins to 1-year deal

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Cowboys are bringing back defensive lineman Carlos Watkins on a one-year deal, the team announced Wednesday.

Watkins, 28, had 32 tackles, five tackles for loss, one sack and an interception returned for a touchdown in 14 regular-season games in 2021.

Watkins re-joins an interior defensive line rotation that includes Neville Gallimore, Osa Odighizuwa, Trysten Hill and Quinton Bohanna.

Watkins, who was originally selected by the Texans with the No. 172 overall pick in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, appeared in 42 games with Houston over four seasons, starting 18.

During his time in Houston, Watkins accumulated 74 tackles, nine tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, four sacks and two forced fumbles.
