DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys made history on day three of the NFL Draft when they selected LSU linebacker Jabril Cox with the 115th overall pick.

Cox's selection made him the sixth straight defensive player the Cowboys picked in this year's draft. This is the first time in franchise history the organization has picked a defensive player with their first six picks.

The pick is a welcome site for 105.3 The Fan's draft analysts after the Cowboys appeared to select players on day two who were given later-round grades. Cox was widely seen by draft analysts as one of the top players available entering day three.

Cox, a native of Kansas City, Missouri, went to North Dakota State from 2016-2019 and transferred to LSU for the 2020 season.

He was a two-time FCS All-American and a two-time Missouri Valley Conference first-teamer while playing for the Bison.

Cox, 23, had nine career interceptions in college. Three of those interceptions came last season while playing for the LSU Tigers.

The Cowboys began the draft needing to add some depth at the linebacker position and that's exactly what they did with the additions of Penn State linebacker (No. 12 overall) Micah Parsons and now Cox.
