DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys added a surprise name to their practice squad list on Sunday, signing veteran defensive back Brandon Carr, the team announced.
Carr, who spent five years in Dallas as a starting corner back, played the last seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. Last season, he played next to rumored Cowboys target, Earl Thomas as part of one of the best defenses in the NFL.
The 34-year old came to Dallas from Kansas City in 2012, after four seasons with the Chiefs, and signed a 5-year $50 million deal. Carr would go on to have some of the most productive years of his career under Rob Ryan and Monte Kiffin in 2012 and 2013, before Rod Marinelli came on as the defensive coordinator.
Over his 12-year career, Carr has never missed a game and has both played and started in all 192 out 192 possible regular games, as well as six playoff games. Carr is also responsible for 702 total tackles, 138 pass deflections and 21 interceptions in those 12 years.
Over the last three years with Baltimore, Carr has six interceptions, 150 total tackles, eight quarterback hits, six tackles for loss and two sacks.
