DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Cowboys are bringing veteran punter Marquette King in for a tryout, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported Saturday.

Marquette's tryout comes after coach Mike McCarthy announced this week that punter Chris Jones will miss multiple weeks with a core muscle injury.

King hasn't appeared in an NFL game since 2018. He played six seasons with the Oakland one with Denver. He played for the St. Louis Battlehawks of the XFL earlier this year.

He was a second-team All-Pro with the Raiders in 2016 and led the NFL in punting yards in 2014.

Jones will be replaced by rookie punter Hunter Niswander this week vs Pittsburgh. He was signed to the Cowboys practice squad last week.

Niswander, an undrafted rookie out of Northwestern, was formally the punter of the DC Defenders of the XFL.
