Cowboys left guard Tyler Smith will undergo further testing after exiting Monday's practice with a hamstring injury.
Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said Tuesday morning on 'Shan and RJ' on 105.3 The Fan that Smith will get an MRI on his injured hamstring, but he feels optimistic about the second-year player's chances of playing in the season opener against the Giants on Sunday Night Football.
“We felt better after we visited and assessed it after practice. Hopefully, it’s not serious enough to impact him," Jones said. "Nothing that we’ve evaluated keeps him out of it at this point.”
We'll get a better indication of Smith's status when the Cowboys release their first injury report for the week following Wednesday's practice.
