Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was pleased with how his teammates performed in Dallas' dominant 40-0 win over the Giants on Sunday night, but he's staying grounded with 16 regular season games to go on the schedule.

"It's the first game. … For us, it's about not getting ahead of ourselves and continuing to show the discipline that we not only did through these four quarters but taking that and using it for our preparation throughout this week and then moving forward to next week going home against another New York team (Jets)," Prescott said when asked what kind of statement the Cowboys made on Sunday. "It's the NFL, you got to show up week in and week out and be prepared. You don't see a lot of wins like this so we're not going to get ahead of ourselves on this."

Prescott, who played well at times Sunday, acknowledged afterward that he wished he could have some throws back that got away from him due to the wet field conditions.

The stat sheet will show that Prescott had a poor game, completing 13-24 passes for 143 yards and no touchdowns to go along with a 72.7 QBR. But his tight ends, Jake Ferguson and Peyton Hendershot, combined for three of those incompletions on drops, two of which would have been touchdowns had they been caught.

Despite not passing for any touchdowns, Prescott helped lead three scoring drives on touchdown runs by Tony Pollard (twice) and KaVontae Turpin.

The defense and special teams did the rest of the damage, combining for two touchdowns, a blocked kick, seven sacks, and three turnovers. And for Prescott, he's happy the Cowboys' defense got an opportunity to wreak havoc on another team's offense for a change.

“I’ve talked about it all spring through training camp, understanding the pass rush that we’re going against in practice. And just watching that come alive against another team and another quarterback, it was exciting, made it easier for us on our side," Prescott said.
