Dallas Cowboys pick Oklahoma tackle Tyler Guyton with No. 29 pick in NFL Draft

The Dallas Cowboys entered the NFL Draft looking to acquire a true difference maker in their quest to make a Super Bowl run in 2024.

Now, that pick is official, with the Cowboys trading down five spots with the Detroit Lions and selecting Oklahoma Sooners tackle Tyler Guyton with the No. 29 overall pick the first round of the NFL Draft.

With plenty of top options, the Cowboys elected to move back and acquire additional draft capital, earning the No. 29 and 73 picks and still landing their guy in Guyton.

In three seasons at Oklahoma, Guyton allowed just two sacks. In 2023, he played in 10 games, with 663 offensive snaps and 355 pass block snaps, allowing zero sacks and nine pressures on the Oklahoma quarterbacks.

He played 661 of those snaps in 2023 at right tackle. He also played 350 of his 401 snaps in 2022 at right tackle.

Despite this, Guyton projects to be a left tackle at the NFL level, thanks to his immense upside and elite traits.

The 6-foot-7, 328-pound Texas native is the fifth offfenisve line the Cowboys have picked in the first round in the last 40 years, with the other four - Tyron Smtih, Tyler Smith, Zack Martin and Travis Frederick - all making Pro Bowls.

Dallas will pick next on Day 2 with the No. 56 overall pick.
