Dallas Cowboys select Western Michigan DE Marshawn Kneeland With No. 56 Pick in NFL Draft

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys might have lost out on their top running back choice in the second round. However, they did not miss out on their edge rusher.

With the No. 56 overall pick in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Cowboys have selected Western Michigan defensive end Marshawn Kneeland.

Kneeland comes at a major position of need for the Cowboys, who have an aging DeMarcus Lawrence on one side, and just lost both Dorance Armstrong and Dante Fowler to the rival Washington Commanders.

Known as a high-motor and extremely intense player, Kneeland had a massive showing at the Senior Bowl this offseason, shooting him up draft boards.

Kneeland spent four seasons at Western Michigan, finishing with 49 tackles, 28 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks in 38 games.

Last season, Kneeland had an 89.7 draft grade from PFF, playing 557 defensive snaps and 288 rush snaps, with six sacks, three QB hits and 38 hurries.

The majority of his snaps came lined up over an outside tackle of off ball blocker last season.
