Michael Gallup practices for first time since suffering knee injury last season

FRISCO (105.3 The Fan) - Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup took a significant step in his recovery from offseason surgery to repair a torn ACL, when he made his highly anticipated return to practice on Wednesday.

Gallup was observed by reporters, including 105.3 The Fan's Bobby Belt, taking part in individual drills for the first time since he suffered the injury on Jan. 2.

During his visit with 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones refused to rule Gallup out for Sunday night's season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but the 26-year-old isn't expected to suit up. It's also possible that he could be held out of the Cowboys' Week 2 home date with Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals. as the team exercises caution with their No. 2 wideout.

"Week 3 against the Giants has been my guess," Belt said in response to a fan on Twitter who asked when Gallup will return.

The Cowboys elected not to place Gallup on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list to begin the season, which would have prevented him from playing until Week 5 at the earliest.
