The injury bug continues to bite the Dallas Cowboys.
Cowboys rising star linebacker DeMarvion Overshown was ruled out of the rest of Monday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals after suffering an ugly knee injury in the fourth quarter.
Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said following the game that Overshown's injury is "of a serious nature.
"It didn't look good," McCarthy added.
When speaking with reporters after the game, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Overshown will undergo further testing on Tuesday, but the injury is "very concerning."
Overshown posted a message on his X account after the injury, appearing to confirm the seriousness of the injury.
"Wouldn’t want this for anyone else! One of God’s Toughest Soldiers. Keep me in your prayers," the linebacker said.
Replays showed Overshown's right knee getting rolled up in a scrum by Bengals center Ted Karras, who hit the ground after being knocked down by Cowboys defensive tackle Mazi Smith.
Overshown remained down on the play and eventually hobbled off the field and went straight to the locker room with assistance from the team's medical staff. He was ruled out for the rest of the game a short time later.
The second-year pro out of the University of Texas has become one of the Cowboys' best defensive players after missing his entire rookie season with a torn ACL in his left knee.
