DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Dez Bryant says he has tested negative twice for COVID-19 after he was unable to play in Tuesday night's game against his former team, the Dallas Cowboys.
"I tested negative back to back for covid and I’m not excited about it."
So far, the NFL nor the Baltimore Ravens have address Bryant's comments.
Less than 30 minutes before Tuesday’s game between Baltimore and Dallas, Bryant was pulled from the field during warmups and tested for COVID-19.
According to multiple reports, Bryant's test from this morning came back inconclusive prior to the game, which prompted the NFL to remove him from the field to re-test him. Bryant then received a rapid test where it was determined at the tested positive for the virus.
The Ravens immediately scratched Bryant from the lineup with an illness designation and sent the receiver home.
The game went on, despite a player warming up and being around his teammates shortly before kickoff, which elicited reaction from fans and Bryant himself about whether or not that was the right call.
On a conference call Wednesday, NFL chief medical officer Dr. Allan Sills was asked directly about this, including that there were photos shown of Bryant interacting with individuals on the field before his tests came back.
“We took all of the data that we had in hand and made the safest possible decision,” Sills said, per ProFootballTalk. “All interactions are not created equal when it comes to risk. To have a high-risk close contact, there’s really a matrix of four-different variables which include cumulative exposure time, the distance, the ventilation available and the use of a mask. So you’re always looking for the interplay and the various weighing ot hose interactions.”
