Did Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott hint at taking a team-friendly deal?
Could Dak Prescott give the Cowboys a hometown discount on his next contract?
The quarterback spoke about his Cowboys' future at a charity event over the weekend and hinted at taking a team-friendly deal to help the organization build a better roster around him.
"No, I'm not trying to be the highest paid necessarily," Prescott said, via ESPN's Todd Archer, when asked if he wanted to be the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL. "We'll wait until the negotiations begin and obviously want to put this team in the best situation."
Should Prescott and the Cowboys not reach an extension this offseason, he'll enter the season tied for the 10th-highest average annual salary contract amongst quarterbacks at $40 million per year. But, that isn't a concern for the quarterback.
"I'm not going to say I fear being here or not," Prescott said. "I don't fear either situation, to be candid with you. I love this game and love to play and love to better myself as a player and my teammates around me. Right now it's with the Dallas Cowboys. It's where I want to be and that's where I am and that's the focus. And after this season we'll see where we're at and if the future holds that ... and then if not, we'll go from there."
