Jerry Jones: "No question you can carry over good play" to the next season

Did Jerry Jones hint at a potential reason he'd consider bringing back Mike McCarthy as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys next season when he joined Shan and RJ Tuesday morning on 105.3 The Fan?

Jones was asked about the team's two-game winning streak and if he would characterize the season as a success if they finished strong after getting off to a 3-7 start.

"I don't know if I would go as far as saying this season's a success," Jones said. ... "There's no question that you can carry over good play from one season to the next. Potentially we even did that, we carried over not-so-good play against Green Bay that we had in our last game in the playoffs last year. I think it's naive to think that you don't have carryover."

Could a strong finish save McCarthy's job? That remains to be seen. But Jones is pleased with the team's fight under the head coach.

"He's steady as a rock. He's never waivered from his mantra that 'we didn't play well.' ... He’s genuine. He’s no B.S. for these players. I never thought for one second that the team had quit recognizing what an outstanding coach he is, said Jones.

The team's owner and GM also spoke about Zack Martin's health heading into Monday's game against Cincinnati and told an incredible story about Rowdy, the team's mascot.
