Former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Damien Wilson was arrested on assault charges in Frisco last week.

According to police reports, Wilson is accused of threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend with a tire iron after she broke up with him.

Frisco police have charged Wilson with assault with bodily injury of a family member.

In a statement given to the Dallas Morning News, Wilson’s attorney, Toby Shook, disputed the assault allegations.

“Damien Wilson did not commit any type of assault,” Shook said. “We look forward to all the facts coming out so his name can be cleared.”

Wilson was drafted by the Cowboys in 2015 and played four seasons for Dallas. He spent the following two seasons in Kansas City and last season in Jacksonville.

He signed a two-year deal with the Carolina Panthers on March 17.

The team has yet to comment on the arrest.
