When Dallas Cowboys legend Drew Pearson officially joins the Pro Football Hall of Fame this summer, his bust will be a throwback to one of the club's most successful eras.
Pearson, selected to the Hall as the lone senior finalist for 2021, told the KRLD Morning News his bronze likeness will feature the Afro hairstyle he sported after joining the Cowboys in 1974.
Pearson said, "I've already been measured for my bust, and I told the guy, 'I got to have a 'fro,' because no one will recognize me with a bust with no 'fro." He added, "That's kinda what I'm noted for. I had that 'fro back in the day when I was playing. Actually, it'll be the biggest Afro in the Hall of Fame."
Pearson, a member of the Cowboys from 1974-84, was seen as the Hall's most glaring omission until his selection last weekend. He helped the Cowboys to three Super Bowl appearances during the ‘70s.
