DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Cowboys will meet with free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. on Monday, Dec. 6, but another receiver appears to be inching closer to a return before that meeting will take place.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Cowboys "are expected to open the 21-day practice window" for wide receiver James Washington. The move will allow Washington to begin practicing and gives the Cowboys 21 days to add him to their active roster.

The Cowboys signed Washington this offseason to be their No. 3 wide receiver, but the wideout has missed the entire season after he broke his foot in training camp.

Dallas could use another playmaker on the outside, and Washington is a player who can stretch the field. However, the team's pursuit of Odell Beckham could be a factor in whether or not Washington is ultimately activated.

Washington had 114 catches for 1,628 yards and 11 touchdowns in 60 games with the Steelers.
