Jerry Jones downplays Cowboys RB issues; explains Jordan Phillips landing on IR

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones joined the K&C Masterpiece on Friday morning to preview Sunday's big matchup against Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens.

Here are some of the highlights:

Will Dalvin Cook potentially be called up this weekend?

"I don't know that that will happen. I must tell you, this is a little bit of a first for me, because I've never seen such made of our position and what we're doing at that position, running back this year. Not having done this or not having done that at running back.

"Both of these guys came out the same time (Derrick Henry and Ezekiel Elliott). We've got a pretty good contemporary of our competition this week in Zeke Elliott. I'm pleased with what Zeke is doing. ... Running back is just not on our radar as far as an area of interest."

Are you surprised by how many people keep talking about your RB situation?

“I don’t have anybody else in the world asking me about this but the media. A few of the media have gotten out here and written some stories early about how we needed a running back in the draft or how we need a running back, and they’re trying to cover their you-know-what as we go through the season.”

Jones goes out of his way to talk about the Jordan Phillips story

"The defensive lineman that we put on IR, in my mind, is favoring his wrist. That's a fact. He's a good player. I hope we take advantage of him moving forward. I'm talking about Phillips. For some reason or the other there's been an issue about him going on IR. The facts are, he has been favoring his wrist."

Was Jones surprised to hear Phillips say that?

"No. I didn't hear it. I'm actually looking at a note here that they gave me that said be sure if they ask you about Phillips. I'm getting ahead of you guys."
