Jerry Jones expresses confidence in Cowboys’ offensive system; says Mike McCarthy will continue to call plays

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones spoke publicly for the first time following his team's 42-10 blowout loss in San Francisco on Sunday night.

From the outset of Tuesday morning's interview with Shan, RJ and Bobby on 105.3 The Fan, it was clear that he wanted to deliver a message: He's confident in Mike McCarthy and Dak Prescott and their abilities to be successful in the new offensive scheme.

McCarthy's scheme, dubbed by the organization as the 'Texas Coast Offense,' hasn't provided promising results through the first five weeks of the season. Prescott has struggled at times in the system, but Jones is confident that it's the right scheme for the quarterback.

"I do. Yes, I do," Jones said when asked if the offense is the right fit for Prescott. "As a matter of fact, do you think getting the ball out quick can be effective? It happened against us the other night. That ball was coming out so quick. … It shows what good, quick throws can do. … We got more of that than we've had in our offense."

When pressed about the appearance that Dak Prescott is being limited in the offense and not allowed to air the ball out, Jones said that the offensive system will provide his quarterback some opportunities to take shots down the field.

"I like what we're doing. From the standpoint of what we're going to see ahead of us, you'll see some balls down the field, no question."

And has the team considered having head coach Mike McCarthy relinquish play-calling duties to offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer?

“No. In any way, no,” Jones said.
