DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The concerns with Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott's recent struggles have now reached the team's front office.
A day after Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said on 105.3 The Fan that 'Dak is playing well (but) I think he can play be better,' Jerry Jones was asked if their franchise quarterback is in a slump right now?
“I don’t want to say that, slump, but that’s probably fair. But it’s such a multi-faceted evaluation that I would say our offense is definitely away from where we were playing 5 and 6 games ago from the standpoint of production," Jones said Tuesday on Shan and RJ on 105.3 The Fan.
Some skeptics believe Prescott is still managing the calf injury that forced him to miss the team's Week 8 win at Minnesota, but Jerry Jones says that's not the case.
"Yes he is. Yes he is," Jones said when asked if Prescott is healthy. "He missed a lot of time in training camp, and he missed a lot of time early with that calf injury, and some say his mechanics are off a little bit, his feet and his motion aren't quite where they ought to be, I hear all that. By the way, that's discussed. But is there merit to it? I don't think so. Just as he's had to his entire career, he'll figure it out. ... He will mentally and physically (get through this)."
Following a 5-1 to the season that saw Prescott be listed as one of the favorites for NFL MVP, the Cowboys quarterback has had two sub-60 passer ratings over the last six games. Despite his struggles, Dallas went 3-3 in those games, and they are one win or a Washington and Philadelphia loss away from locking up the NFC East.
