Jerry Jones reacts to Bill Belichick college coaching rumors

Rumors have been swirling for months that the Dallas Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones could have an interest in hiring legendary NFL coach Bill Belichick to replace Mike McCarthy.

For the most part, those rumors have amounted to nothing, with McCarthy seemingly safe in his current status with the Cowboys.

In fact, Belichick might have already found his next job, with reports circulating that he has been in talks with the North Carolina Tarheels about their vacant position.

And when asked about the Belichick to North Carolina connection, Jones was quick to point out the immense admiration he has for the legendary coach.

"I don't know that I've seen a coach available, if you will, with his stature," Jones told the media about Belichick. "He's got a lot of gas left in his tank. A lot. He's on the game. He's savvy. He knows the personnel all over the league. There's no learning curve there."

"It doesn't surprise me that everything there is out here that has a coach concept associated with that he's not being considered. Bill Belichick could run a major company very effectively. He just has that leadership ability, as well as in this case, no one knows more football or how to execute it and use that to win a ball game than Bill Belichick."

Obviously, Jones is a big fan of what Belichick can do as the leader of a franchise.

But does that mean he is going to pursue the six-time super bowl winner this offseason? Likely not.

Jones has already hinted that McCarthy could get an extension this offseason, and the he believes in his current head coach.

Regardless, it is interesting to see how Jones feels about Belichick and what he could bring to a franchise that needs leadership - much like the Cowboys seem to need right now.
