DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Despite a couple of disappointing losses, including an embarrassing blowout to the San Francisco 49ers, the Dallas Cowboys still sit at 4-2 and are an NFC Playoff contender.
According to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who spoke to the media on Thursday, Dallas isn't necessarily in need of making a trade at the deadline.
But while there might not be anything brewing just yet, that doesn't mean they aren't capable of finding ways to improve on either side of the ball, should the right deal come along.
“I don’t see anything heated up to a level that would cause something to happen,” Jones said. "I do like this roster. Would I improve it if given an opportunity that makes a lot of sense? Of course we would. That’s expected but if we don’t do anything at this trade deadline, we’ve got a team that in my mind that can get us where we want to go.”
Dallas has been linked to a few players through various media outlets, including running back Derrick Henry and corner Patrick Surtain, among others.
However, as it stands, there is nothing imminent in regards to either of those players - or any other player for that matter.
That said, Jones was emphatic that if the right deal comes along for the right player, he will absolutely pounce on the opportunity and make a deal.
“I’m by nature active. I’m by nature a risk taker," Jones said. "Don’t come by unless you want to be struck at. We will trade. Make no mistake about it. We will make a deal, but it’s certainly got a high bar because I like our team.”
The Cowboys will have until 3 p.m. on October 31 to make a decision on whether to make a deal or stay put with the players they have on the roster.
