DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The "Playmaker" Michael Irvin joined Will & RJ to discuss the difficult decision between retaining and paying Dak Prescott and drafting a quarterback with one of the top picks.
Irvin said he believes there is no such thing as a sure thing when it comes to letting Dak go and drafting either Clemson's Trevor Lawrence, Ohio State's Justin Fields or BYU's Zach Wilson.
"Unfortunately, Dak got hurt. But fortunately, for Dak's contract situation, oh my, God! You've got to be saying right now, 'okay, okay. We see the difference,'" Irvin said of the Cowboys quarterback play after Prescott went down with a season ending ankle injury.
"Is he the guy (Dak) that can carry a team to a Super Bowl? We're all looking for guys that can carry a team to a Super Bowl. But you don't know who that is because they don't come with a "dot" on their head. … You got to keep this one until they start making them with "dots" on their heads.
"You don't know if Trevor Lawrence is one. Because he does it in college doesn't mean he can do it in the NFL. We've seen many of them come through (the NFL) and flop. Andrew Luck couldn't carry a team to a Super Bowl. I want us to understand how crazy it is when we say some of the things that we say. We thought Andrew Luck was the best thing since we got a damn machine and started slicing bread! And where did Andrew Luck lead the Colts? Not to a Super Bowl."
