The Dallas Cowboys introduced new head coach Brian Schottenheimer on Monday morning, officially naming him the 10th coach in franchise history.
And now, we are beginning to see what the regime under Schottenheimer could look like - at least offensively.
According to team owner Jerry Jones, Schottenheimer will indeed be calling plays for the Cowboys in 2025.
“We wanted Brian to call the plays," Jones said Monday. "I believe if he doesn’t call the plays, he’s probably not with the Cowboys.”
The last time Schottenheimer called plays for a NFL Team was during his stint as the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks from 2018-2020. In those three seasons, the Seahawks ranked No. 18, No. 8, and No. 17 in the league in total offense, and No. No. 7, No. 9 and No. 8 in scoring offense.
As for what the Cowboys offense could look like, Schottenheimer gave a hint, noting that shifts, motions and play action passing will be of a heavy emphasis.
"I'm a big believer in shifts and motions to distort things," Schottenheimer said. "I'm a believer in marrying the run and pass and making them look the same."
