The Cowboys are one of four teams that Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson would be willing to be dealt to in a potential trade, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Thursday afternoon.
Wilson hasn’t demanded a trade yet, his agent told Schefter, but he has publicly expressed his frustration with the organization. Wilson would consider trades to the Bears, Cowboys, Saints and Raiders, Schefter reported. Wilson has a no-trade clause, so he can dictate where he'd potentially be traded.
Wilson is in a rift with Seahawks management over "power and control," the Athletic reported. Wilson has publicly expressed frustration over the team’s inability to construct an offensive line to protect him well.
Wilson, 32, is a seven-time Pro Bowler with a career 101.7 quarterback rating. He completed 68.8% of his passes for 4,212 yards 40 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 2020.
The Cowboys, who are currently in the midst of a contract dispute with with starting quarterback and franchise cornerstone Dak Prescott, have yet to make headway on a desired deal, and could be on the road to be franchising him for the second-consecutive season.
If that happens, Prescott would become just the second quarterback in NFL history to be franchise tagged a second time after Washington tagged Kirk Cousins in 2016 and 2017. Cousins eventually left the Redskins for the Minnesota Vikings, earning the first fully garunteed contract in NFL history.
In a recent interview with 105.3 the Fan's Shan and RJ, NFL Insider Mike Florio discussed the potential of Wilson being traded to the Cowboys. You can listen to that full interview below.
