Should Dak Prescott leave the Cowboys?

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Shan Shariff believes Dak Prescott should consider leaving the Cowboys because of how mediocre the organization has been over the last several seasons, most of which were under the old regimes of Jason Garrett and Wade Phillips.

"Part of me thinks maybe Dak should leave us. I always thought that Dak needed the star for relevance - the Cowboys brand - because he would never get a commercial if he was quarterbacking Jacksonville," Shariff said Monday morning on 105.3 The Fan. "Now, I'm like, do you really want to be around this? Do you really want to be around this mess of mediocrity? If I'm Dak Prescott I get tagged next year, and unless I truly, truly just love it here because it's my favorite team growing up - And I really do love Mike McCarthy - And I believe Stephen Jones can run it better than Jerry - I go to free agency and go to the next team who's the highest bidder - and I leave this stuff. Because this is 8-8, and maybe 9-7 every single time, and it's got to be maddening. If he really cares about his legacy - if he really cares about winning big - what right now makes you think that's going to happen here in the immediate future?"

Despite Prescott's mostly-strong performance in his first four seasons in the NFL, the Cowboys have yet to advance past the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

Dallas went 13-3 in Prescott's rookie season in 2016, 9-7 in 2017, 10-6 in 2018 and 8-8 in 2019.

Prescott had the third-best quarterback rating in 2016 at 78.8, the fourth-best in 2017 with a QBR of 69.5, the 18th-best in 2018 with a QBR of 56.2, and the fifth-best in 2019 with a QBR of 72.8.

Through four games in 2020, Prescott has the tenth-best QBR at 76.1. He also leads the league in passing yards with 1,690.
