DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Cowboys' second-year defensive tackle Trysten Hill had a rough rookie year, to say the least, appearing in just seven games and recording five tackles during the entirety of the 2019 season.
Fast forward to 2020 training camp, however, and Hill has not only found his footing, but has by all accounts had an extremely impressive camp, and as a result, secured a week one starting spot along the defensive front.
Cowboys COO Stephen Jones joined 105.3 the Fan's K&C Masterpiece on Monday to discuss all things Cowboys, and put particular emphasis on the performance of Hill so far this summer, and how he deserves the praise he has received to this point.
“My hat is off to (Trysten Hill)," Stephen Jones told K&C Masterpiece. "Obviously he was in a situation last year where we had quite a few guys there that he was competing with, and a little bit he grouped in where we've been very fortunate that a lot of our rookies have stepped right in and played. But he got his feet wet last year, and in no way were we down on him. I think sometimes when you have a rookie who is inactive, for a little bit, everybody tends to want to point to, 'Did they miss on him? Did they hit on him? What happened to him?'. And certainly he has shown why we were so optimistic about him in the draft... He has just come in and never missed a beat when McCoy went down. He's been 110%, and really playing at a high level right now, and deserves to be the starter.”
