Cowboys' KaVontae Turpin 'has a chance' to practice this week, C.J. Goodwin could land on IR

The Dallas Cowboys might have lost two impact players on Sunday night, with wide receiver and kick returner KaVontae Turpin and special teams ace C.J. Goodwin both leaving the game with injuries.

According to Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News, Turpin, who scored his first career receiving touchdown in the second quarter, suffered a high-ankle sprain and is going to miss multiple weeks. However, coach Mike McCarthy said Monday during his visit with the media that Turpin 'definitely has a chance' to practice this week.

Turpin was replaced by Duece Vaughn for punt returns, and Rico Dowdle for kick returns - a set up that is likely to continue going forward until his return.

Currently in his second season with Dallas, Turpin had had four catches for 25 yards going into Sunday night's game. He had the one catch for the touchdown before his injury.

As for Goodwin, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported earlier Monday that the special teams ace would miss the rest of the season after he suffered a torn pectoral muscle in Sunday's loss to the 49ers.

But it appears the Cowboys aren't quite ready to rule him out for the rest of the season, as Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News reported Monday that Goodwin 'has some fluidity' on the next step of his recovery process.

According to the report, Goodwin could either undergo season-ending surgery or put off the procedure and strengthen the muscle for the next several weeks to give him a chance to return this season.

Goodwin has 50 tackles in his Cowboys career and has appeared in 73 games.
