The NFL preseason has come to a close, roster cuts have been made, and we’re inching closer to the Cowboys kicking off their season against the Giants on Sunday Night Football.

Several players made positive impressions during training camp, but which players showed the most improvement from last year, and will they be able to carry that momentum over to the regular season?

Here are three players whose stock has risen the most during training camp.

WR JALEN TOLBERT

Tolbert was a massive disappointment as a rookie, and the questions surrounding his development at least partially spurred Dallas to make a move for Brandin Cooks during the offseason.

Tolbert appeared to have a completely different approach during offseason programs and training camp.
There’s a noticeable increase in confidence, and he is attacking the ball the same way he did at South Alabama. He’s shown toughness in the middle of the field, more precise route-running, and more consistent hands. He appears primed to silence the questions that arose last season.

EDGE MICAH PARSONS

It almost feels silly to include Parsons, but he genuinely appears to be even better entering his third season.

Parsons was absolutely dominant during training camp practices, regardless of who was tasked with slowing him down. He’s showcased a more advanced and disciplined pass rush plan leading up to this season, which is a terrifying thing to pair with his all-world athleticism. 20 sacks doesn’t feel out of reach for Parsons in 2023.

TE JAKE FERGUSON

Cowboys brass has been impressed with Ferguson’s consistent growth from his very first practice as a rookie to today.

The Cowboys took Luke Schoonmaker in the second round of April’s draft, but Ferguson is firmly in the team’s plans for the future, with more dynamic athleticism than he put on tape at Wisconsin, high football character, and the potential to be a plus blocker in the run game.
