DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - It took some time, but former Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips weighed in Tuesday on the Pro Football Hall of Fame voters snubbing DeMarcus Ware.
Ware, who was in his first year of eligibility, was stunningly not included in the HOF class of 2022 when announced at the NFL Honors ceremony Feb. 10.
As expected, the 39-year-old took the high road after discovering that he wouldn't be enshrined in Canton, just yet.
Ware spent the first nine years of his NFL career with the Cowboys, earning seven Pro Bowl selections and four All-Pro selections. He led the NFL in sacks twice (2008, 2010). Ware played under Phillips from 2007 up until the coach's firing midway through the 2010 season.
Ware was a salary cap casualty after the 2013 season and was quickly scooped up by the Denver Broncos, where he would play his final three seasons. Phillips joined Ware in Denver two years later as their defensive coordinator, and they went on to win Super Bowl 50, the duo's first and only Super Bowl titles.
