DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs was at it again Sunday.

The second-year player had two third-quarter interceptions to give him five interceptions in the first four games of the season. Diggs had just three interceptions in 12 games in 2020.

With his first interception Sunday, Diggs became the first player in franchise history since the merger to have an interception in each of his team's first four games. He also became the 16th player in NFL history since the merger to have an interception in each of the first four contests.

Diggs also became the second play in franchise history to record five interceptions the first four games. Chuck Howley was the only other player to accomplish the feat in 1968. Diggs is now the 17th player in NFL history since the merger to intercept five passes through four games.

It wasn't all good news for Diggs, however, as the Alabama product wasn't on the field for the Panthers final two possessions (both scoring drives), as he dealt with back tightness, according to the Cowboys.

Coach Mike McCarthy said after the game that Diggs was struck by a cleat in his back and they elected to keep him out of the game with the Cowboys up 36-14 early in the fourth quarter.

Diggs confirmed the injury in his postgame media availability, saying that he could have returned to the field but the team was being extra cautious.

And, as for his two interceptions and whether or not teams should attempt to throw passes in his direction moving forward this season?

"I don't want them to stop throwing (at me). Keep throwing some more," Diggs said.
