DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The media and fans alike are always looking for little clues here and there to help figure out what a player is thinking during free agency.

Oftentimes, those clues come from the player's social media accounts. Players use them to share their displeasure with their current situation, or they like an opposing player's Instagram post, or they delete all pictures and logos connecting them to a particular team. Another way to get attention is by following a different team, or a player from a different team.

And that's exactly what happened with Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott on Monday.

Prescott created quite a stir on social media Monday when it was discovered that he recently followed the Washington Football Team on Instagram. After a media frenzy began, however, Prescott swiftly unfollowed the Cowboys NFC East rival.

Washington is looking for their next franchise quarterback after they released second-year quarterback Dwayne Haskins last season. Meanwhile, the Cowboys have until March 9 to place the franchise tag on Prescott for the second straight offseason. And should they not come to an agreement by the mid-July deadline, he'll play in 2021 under the tag.

To be fair, Prescott's decision to follow one of the Cowboy's NFC East rivals came at an interesting time. Over the weekend, Cowboys great Emmitt Smith said "there is not a commitment to Dak Prescott," and that he believes "the Cowboys are uncertain whether or not he's the future."

Prescott also reportedly underwent a second surgery on his injured ankle and was mistakenly left out of a hype video the Cowboys created following the Super Bowl.

So, did it mean anything? The GBag Nation discussed the controversy on Monday's show, and they believe the quarterback is trying to send a message to the Joneses.

"He wants to hurt the Cowboys. That's what you do. He's had it up to here. We're a month into the offseason, (and there are) crickets. They don't want him. He's putting a 'come and get it' sign right there in the front yard for everybody to see on IG (Instagram)," Gavin Dawson said on 105.3 The Fan.
