Are both sides mudding the waters in the Dak Prescott-Cowboys contract negotiations?

A noticeably more relaxed Dak Prescott spoke with the media on Thursday about recent contract negotiations between his agent, Todd France, and the Dallas Cowboys. This led to speculation that a deal might be close to getting done, which is exactly what Clarence Hill of DLLS reported on Thursday.

According to Hill, "progress has been made" in contract talks between both parties and a potential new deal is "closer than it has been."

But on Wednesday Ian Rapoport had this to say about the status of negotiations...

"My understanding is, right now, is the two sides are not close," the NFL Network insider said on 'The Insiders.'

105.3 The Fan's Bobby Belt took to X, formally Twitter, to voice his opinion about the situation, saying that "The waters are being mutually and intentionally muddied" or "The two sides have such fundamentally different perspectives that they can't even agree on what 'close' means."
