Free agents Lance Stephenson, Isaiah Thomas and Monta Ellis workout for Mavs

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Mavericks have remained active in their free agency pursuits this summer, working out a trio of veteran guards on Thursday afternoon, including a former Mavericks star, Monta Ellis.

Ellis, who has not played in the NBA since the 2016-17 season, spent two years with the Mavs from 2013-2015, where he averaged 19 points and three assists on 45-percent from the floor.

The Mavs also worked out veterans Lance Stephenson and Isaiah Thomas on Thursday, looking to fill the roll of a secondary playmaker and potential scoring punch off of the bench.

Much like Ellis, however, Stephenson has been out of the league for multiple years, last taking the floor in the NBA during the 2018-19 season with the Lakers, where he averaged 7.2 points per game.

Unlike the other two vets, however, Thomas has remained rostered consistently over the last few seasons, spending last year with the New Orleans Pelicans, and averaging 7.7 points per game.

Thomas has declined steadily since the 2016-17 season, however, when he averaged a career-high 28.9 points per game, and hit 53-percent from the field.
