Mavs C Dereck Lively OUT for extended period with injury

The Dallas Mavericks have been bit hard by the injury bug all season long. And now, it has happened again.

According to reports from ESPN's Shams Charania, Mavs center Dereck Lively is expected to miss 2-3 months with a fracture in his foot.

Lively, who came on incredibly strong as a rookie last season, was averaging 9.1 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game in his 32 appearances, 25 of which were starts.

The Mavs have already been without superstar Luka Doncic since their Christmas Day loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, and have six other players, including Lively who are either out or game time decisions on Wednesday night.

Among those players are heavy contributors as well, including Klay Thompson, Dante Exum, Jaden Hardy, Naji Marshall, Quinten Grimes, as well as Lively and Doncic.

The Mavs will tip off against the Timberwolves on Wednesday night at 7:30 on ESPN.
