DALLAS (105.3 the Fan) - The Dallas Mavericks have jumped out to an unexpected 2-0 lead over the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the 2021 NBA playoffs, thanks in large part to the play of wing Tim Hardaway Jr.
Hardaway has been invaluable for Dallas, averaging 24.5 points and hitting 11-of-17 threes in the first two games of the series, but also helping to propel them into the fifth spot in the Western Conference standings with his stellar play all season.
Unfortunately for Dallas, Hardaway is set to become a free agent this summer. However, according to a Thursday report from NBA insider Marc Stein, the Mavs are confident in their ability to bring back the 29-year-old.
Hardaway, who currently makes north of $18 million for the Mavs, likely would command an increased salary upon re-signing with Dallas.
On the year, Hardaway has averaged 16.6 points while shooting 39.1-percent from three -- the second best mark of his career (2019-2020 with Dallas) from beyond the arc.
