Mavs Superstar Luka Doncic Named First-Team All-NBA

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Mavericks exceed all expectations during the 2019-20 season, finishing seventh in the Western Conference and taking the heavily favored Los Angeles Clippers to six games in their first-round playoff series.

Mavs star Luka Dončić, who had already put in a historical season statistically to help the Mavs reach that point, was rewarded for his efforts on Wednesday, being named First-Team All-NBA by the league alongside other superstars such as LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis, and James Harden.

With that honor, Dončić became the first Maverick to make an All-NBA team since Dirk Nowitzki did it during the 2011-2012 season. He is also just the third Maverick in franchise history to receive All-NBA honors, with Nowitzki being named 12 times, and Steve Nash being named twice.

For the year, Dončić finished with 28.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 8.8 assists in 61 games, making him just the third player in NBA history to average at least 28-9-8 for a full season along with Oscar Robertson and Russell Westbrook. He also finished with a league-high 17 triple-doubles, becoming the youngest player in NBA history to do so.

Doncic also became the youngest European player to start an NBA All-Star Game, at 20 years, 353 days old.
