DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Mavericks announced that they requested waivers on veteran guard Courtney Lee on Saturday, ending his tenure with the team after two seasons.
Lee was originally brought to the Mavs are part of the trade with the Knicks for star big man Kristaps Porzingis, along with Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr.
Going the other way in that trade were point guard Dennis Smith Jr., wing Wesley Matthews, and center DeAndre Jordan, as well as future draft compensation.
In 24 games, including nine starts with the Mavs last season, Lee Lee averaged 4.5 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.
The move brings the Dallas roster down to the limit of 15 fully contracted players, as well as two way players, in preparation for their season opener on Wednesday December 23rd against the Phoenix Suns in Phoenix.
