WATCH: NBA insider picks Mavs to make NBA Finals, Says Doncic is NBA’s best

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Mavericks are just one win away from eliminating the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the 2021 NBA playoffs, thanks predominantly to the incredible play of 22-year-old superstar, Luka Doncic.

As a result, the heads of the national media are beginning to turn, including that of NBA Analyst Nick Wright, who made some bold proclamations about the Mavs going forward.

In a Friday appearance on Fox Sports 1's First Things First, Wright not only projected the Mavs to represent the Western Conference in the NBA Finals, but also declared Luka Doncic as the NBA's best player.

"I am going to go with the one team in the west that hasn't actually made round 2 yet, and I'm going to say the Mavs," Wright said. "I do think that year two in the playoffs, age 22, one-man show Luka Doncic is going to do what LeBron did in that exact scenario nearly 15 years ago, where year two in the playoffs, age 22, no All-Stars around him, just comes onto the scene and announces himself, 'I am the best player in the league.' That's what LeBron did in 2007. I think that is what Luka is going to do over the next month. I think he is going to announce himself as 'I am not one of the best players in the league. You should consider me THE best player in the league, even at age 22. And I think the Mavs are going to come out of the West now."
