DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - After a disappointing 2021 season, Dallas Mavericks big man Kristaps Porzingis will have a difficult offseason surrounded by questions and heavy criticism ahead of him.
Porzingis, of course, was the subject of much vitriol from Dallas Mavericks fans, after averaging just over 13 points per game in the Mavs opening round loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Part of that frustration came from what was an apparent passive mentality from Porzingis, which came as a result of both questionable coaching decisions by Rick Carlisle, and the unwillingness to change and adapt by the 25-year-old.
During Monday's exit interviews, Porzingis admitted his shortcomings, saying that, thanks to the way the NBA has changed in recent years, that he needs to change along with it.
"The game's evolving," Porzignis said. "The way I was playing in New York, a lot of post-ups, barely any teams do those kinds of things anymore, so my game has to evolve and I have to find ways I can be effective."
Porzingis will now head into his first fully healthy off season since he was a New York Knick, and is set to make north of $30 million in the 2021-22 season.
