Mavs' Porzingis says he is 'recovering well' from surgery

Dallas Mavericks star big man Kristaps Porzingis was forced to miss the majority of the Mavs playoff series against the Los Angeles Clippers due to a torn meniscus.

That injury, along with his questionable ejection in game one, likely turned the tables of the series in the Clippers' favor.

Now, weeks removed from the season and already gearing up for the next thanks to the NBA's late December start up date for the 2021 season, Porzingis gave an update on his rehab in an exclusive interview with Mavs.com writer Dwain Price.

"The only thing I know is that I'm recovering well," Porzingis said in his interview with Price. "And that's the most important thing. We'll see. I would like to start as soon as possible and I'm doing all the things necessary to do that."

Porzingis, who was averaging 24 points, nine rebounds, and one block per game while shooting 52.5-percent from the floor and 52.9-percent from three during the Clippers series, was already confirmed to be miss the start of the season by Mavs GM Donnie Nelson during his interview with K&C Masterpiece on 105.3 the Fan on Monday.

According to Porzingis though, he and the Mavs are going to be patient in his recovery, though he is progressing well.

"I think I'm pretty close to being able to get some shots up," Porzingis told Price. "We're just taking it easy, we're taking our time, but I'm pretty much there and I can't wait to start doing more stuff. But I have to be smart, I have to be patient."

Despite ending yet another season on the injured list, Porzingis remains as confident as ever, intimating that he is not concerned about his ability to recover from this injury, and that he should be back to his playoff form in no time.

"The way I was playing (after ACL surgery), I was feeling the best I've felt in my career," said Porzingis. "I think that shows that if I was able to come back from that, then this little thing is nothing compared to it."
